We're looking to build a commercial newspaper/magazine-style site (see requirements below) and are trying to decide if WordPress would be a viable solution, or if we'd need to - or should - use a more complex CMS like Joomla or Drupal. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
The site will involve a main home page as well as several sub-home pages, each with its own editor. Articles on the site will be of several types (features, news, blogs) and need to be tagged with a complex multi-level taxonomy (for quick sorting to find relevant content and to feed articles to the various sub-sites). Editors will need to have editorial control over their sections, including selection of articles from a shared database that includes multiple forms of content (articles, videos, multimedia etc.).
Other features needed include:
- connections to ad-servers such as DoubleClick with capabilities to deliver targeted advertising
- newsletter registration and content sharing
- search engine friendliness
- forums
The site must be robust and maintainable by non-technical editors.
