Any recommendations for making copies categories for posts and making them tags but I am not looking to convert one to the other, i want to have both? Basically I have about 400 posts i want to do this with. Hope i made sense.

Well if you don't find anything, this plugin will make the job of assigning tags to posts easier.
Whatever you do, before you start, backup your database just in case you change your mind!
