want “follow me”

    I have had a nice little blog going on blogger.com for several years now, and I finally am getting around to putting it onto my own website.
    There are two features I really like about blogger that i would LOVE to put on my new wordpress blog, but it all seems way too complicated.
    One; when I publish my blog, I’d like to let a certain group of people know instantly.
    Two; I’d like to have people be able to click on something that then makes them my “followers”
    These are real slick on blogger, I can’t imagine that we don’t have the same thing here on wordpress. Thank you

    One; when I publish my blog, I’d like to let a certain group of people know instantly.

    I’m 99% sure that there’s at least 1 plugin that sends out an alert/email when a post is published.

    Two; I’d like to have people be able to click on something that then makes them my “followers”

    Can you define “followers”? People can subscribe to your blog and/or can follow your RSS feed.

    Followers are people who have blogs and blogrolls, so that when you update your blog, they automatically get a notification of it on their own page.

    The other, the email plugin I could not get to work, I have been spending the most time with feedburner; whose help pages appear to be about an older version of wordpress.

    i installed it and got more nothing, but thanks, it looks like what I would like
