publishing fails if image in post/page or when editing an existing post/page

    I’ve got a very strange issue that I’m not quite sure when occurred it might have been under after upgrading to 2.7.1 but might also have occurred after a massive spam comment attack.

    Basically if I include an image in a new post/page the publishing fails & the browser ends up at the sites url. A post/page without images publishes just fine.

    The same error problem occurs when I edit old posts/pages regardless of if they have images or not.

    I’ve checked & repaired the database, deactivated all plugins and re-installed wordpress, none of which has triggered any change.

    Any pointers to what might be causing this or what information I need to provide would be highly appreciated.

    I’ve looked into this again, and either i missed it the first time around or the (bad)behavior has changed.

    Now I get the error on both new and old pages if there’s a link in them. If I remove the link from an old page the page updates nicely. I’ve tried this in both visual & html editing mode, it makes no difference in the behavior.

    There’s no active plugins & I’ve tried updating all the wordpress php files.

    Any ideas?
