I am currently running 2.5.1 and am thinking of upgrading to 2.7.1.

If someone could answer the following questions for me it would be very helpful.

#1. If I upgrade and don't like how the new version works, will it still be possible to shift back to the 2.5.1 version I am running now?

#2. If so, how difficult is that to do? [i.e. shift back to 2.5.1 from 2.7.1]

#3. I am currently using a 7 or 8 different plugins with 2.5.1. If I upgrade to 2.7.1 will these plugins new to be re-installed? [or will they work, as is]

#4. Within my current dashboard it says, "WordPress 2.7.1 is available! Please update now."

    i. Is this upgrade method the easiest?
ii. Do the 2.5.1 files currently showing in the Control Panel for my blog get altered during this upgrade process? [or does a new copy of them get made in a separate set of files which will show up in the Control Panel for my blog pertaining to the new 2.7.1 version?]

#5. Are ther any other key things which you feel I should know about upgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.7.1?

    Thanks, in advance.

#1 backup all your files AND your database before the upgrade. Have a look at WordPress_Backups for a start.

#2 Restore those backups you made before the upgrade.

Note: If you stick with 2.5.1 you'll want to spend time researching all the security issues your version may still have as compared to more current versions...

#3 That's a great question for the plugin authors. This may be a helpful resource: Plugin_Compatibility

#4 define easy? It has never seemed all that difficult to me... Upgrading_WordPress. Once you're at 2.7.1 you'll be able to do "one click upgrades" though.

ii. I don't understand the question.
