I helped a friend set up a WordPress site (www.danielwalley.com), hosted on Dreamhost. Everything has been fine until this past week when he said he was getting this message from his browser “Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer! The website at http://www.danielwalley.com contains elements from the site profitool.biz, which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer. For detailed information. . .”
Anyway, I looked at StopBadware.org and the site is not listed, nor is it in googles own webmaster tools. I’ve looked through the php files in the template and any javascript files associated with it and can’t see anything that looks out of place or that’s been hacked. So, I thought I’d turn to the forum to see if there’s something I’m missing or if I’ve gotten a false positive on the malware report and need to report that to Google.

  • Hi,

Please have a check for <iframe> code in your index file.if it is there then your site may be in the list for malware contents..please remove the <iframe> code..

    Thanks,

    Shane G.

Yes, this site has been hacked with iframe insertion. Try a forum search for hacked for info on how to clean it up.

Thank you for your quick responses. I had a local template at my home and have deleted the one with the iframe coding and uploaded a new one. I’ve installed and activated these plugins:

      Wordpress Firewall 1.25
      WP Security Scan 2.4
      AskApache Password Protect 4.6.5
      and finally, Akismet 2.2.3

Someone mentioned in the other posts about the database, so I’m going to check that later today and make sure it wasn’t compromised as well.

This is happening quite a bit recently. Within the past week I’ve seen 4 or 5 sites that have the iframe hack.

Well, it was only in the index.php file. Everything’s been cleaned up and it’s working fine. Thx again for the replies.
