   I'm pretty frustrated, this upgrade process has been pretty painful and I have had no success. I've followed the detailed upgrade instructions METICULOUSLY and when I try to run the upgrade program, I get a 404 error over and over again. I don't know what to do. I've tried:

   - deleting the remote wordpress files and completely re-uploading them, with my original wp-config file and theme folder intact.
   - restoring my database
   - trying again, with the same results.

   The only thing I can think of is I've renamed my wordpress directory to "_wordpress". Is there something in the upgrade process or the new 2.7 files that will be screwed up by that?

   I've read everything I can on upgrading, and I cannot figure out what's wrong. Please help.

   If you're getting 404's i'd suggest setting your installation to default permalink settings, doing the upgrade, then setting them back after it's all working again...

   404's are most commonly (in my opinion - from what i've seen) related to permalink problems.... so i'd focus on that.
