   For the first few months my blog ran under the spammer radar, but now is getting dozens of spam posts per day, all from the same base IP (194.8.75.x).

   I have Akismet up and running, and it's capturing all of the comments successfully.

   I also have Settings>>Discussions>>Comment Blacklist set up to filter out the offending IP, with "194.8.75." in the input window.

   Shouldn't that prevent the comment from being submitted in the first place? Or am I missing something?

   Block the IP in your htaccess (you can do this from Cpanel if you have this with your host - under IP Deny Manager)...

   I've had spam from that IP range, they now end up in error logs as a "Denied Access"... :)

   Also quite alot from the 92.112.***.*** range lately...
