   I am getting spammed pretty consistently on my blog.

   I read this below discussion...

   ...and was wondering if in the last few months there have been any great breakthroughs in how to prevent spam.

   Install Akismet and Bad Behavior, these are a good combination.

   Some comment spam will always get through but this combo works pretty well.

   OK thanks.

   I downloaded and installed BAD BEHAVIOR and it is now an active plug-in on my site.

   Akismet is now a plugin on my site I have not been able to activate it as it keeps asking for my API key. I follow the directions to get the key, but to no avail.

   Any advice...

   OK the problem is now solved...

   FYI

   Because I was using Wordpress via Simple Scripts from my webhost I never had to register with Wordpress per se and did not have an API key.

   So just now I registered, got my API key and not Akismet is active.
