• My webverger has upgraded my blog to 1.5. As you know, the monthly archives are now presented differently. Specifically, only ten summaries are shown at a time.

With the earlier WordPress I was able to click on the monthly archives, see all the posts, and then save all to my harddrive. I am no longer able to do this.

Is it possible to reconfigure 1.5 back the way things used to be? TIA.

(I did search the archives, but did not find any discussion of this point.)

    bump

I’m having the same problem. The archives only display as many posts on a page as you have set for the main page in Options > Reading. Can someone explain how to fix this?

Thanks, that fixed it. Sorry I wasn’t able to find that on my own–I had been searching for “archives”, and that didn’t turn up.

But am I right in assuming from the other thread that no one is treating this behavior as a bug? No other weblog software behaves this way, and I don’t think anyone expects this. When you click on a monthly archive link, you expect to get all the posts from that month. Other behavior is going to appear buggy to 99% of people who download the new WordPress, and there’s no documentation about how to fix this.

It all depends on your viewpoint. There’s no explicit — or even implicit, to my mind — standard that says “When viewing a blog an archive page will contain all elements within that particular archive.” It’s a design decision. Personally I don’t like having everything on one page. Sometimes the line between a design decision and a bug is razor thin, but I don’t construe this as “buggy” behavior. If it left out posts in the middle of an archive, that’s a bug. If it doesn’t include any “e” characters, that’s a bug. But choosing to only display 10 posts per page is no bug. IMHO, of course.

“99% of people who download the new WordPress, and there’s no documentation about how to fix this.”

Hmmm must be an exclusive 1% around this forum, your the only one ever to call this a “bug.”

Does this plug-in give me the ability to show the full-text of each article of the month instead of a summary?
