   This worked fine until recently--whether I use the flash uploader or browser uploader, it returns this message. Permissions on wp-content and subdirectories are at 777 now, and it's not helping.

   Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2009/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

   I have the same problem. We just changed domains and update as much as we could find to the configuration including the new path to the uploads folder. All of the posts and links within them have been changed and all else is working except the ability to upload pictures.

   The relevant post:
   "After reading everything - my fix was removing the /
   wp-content/uploads
   Not
   /wp-content/uploads"

   I went to >>Settings>>Miscellaneous and corrected my "Store uploads in this folder" setting (see the default).
