Functions to install/uninstall options sidebars_widgets, widget_pages, etc.?

    What are the wordpress functions to add, delete, and edit the widget options? For instance adding or removing a widget from sidebars_widgets or widget_pages in the wp_options table. I want to install a widget from an external script I’m writing, rather than from the dashboard.
