   Also which version of PHP is the best for WordPress? My hosting plan gives me the option to choose from a few different versions of both php and mysql and so I would like to know which I should pick.

   5, most definitely.

   In theory it should not matter, but PHP 5.x and MySQL 5.x are good choices.

   Maybe in theory, but when I upgraded my server to the latest versions, flash image upload started working and everything got faster!
