   Hello

   I have hosted Wordpress on my own domain (through Wordpress.org).
   Therefore I do not have an API key in my profile.

   How can I secure an API key.

   Is the only way to get the key is to register on wordpress.com?

   Yes. Just create an account there...you don't need a blog...and you can get an api key.
