   I just performed an upgrade from wordpress 2.6.5 to 2.7.1 and now the site, including the dashboard, is extremely slow to load. I used http://tools.pingdom.com/ to check load times and that responds saying less that 1 second. Anyone have any suggestions? I know hosting is not the issue as my server is run locally and accessing it on my local network shows the slow load times. Thanks for any suggestions anyone might have.

   If you posted your URL, a lot of people on different systems could chime in. At least you'd know if your users are experiencing the same thing.

   Wow, you're not kidding. I clicked the link about a minute ago and am still waiting. You say that 2.6.5 was running fine?

   Cobb County! I used to live in Smyrna. I'll bet it's nice and warm there now.

   Yeah, 2.6.5 was running great. I can't seem to figure out what's up with it. If I rename the wp-config.php file the default page requesting the site be configured pops up immediately so it's not Apache that I can imagine.

   I'm up in Kennesaw myself. It's in the 60s and rainy. I'd give anything for more than one day of sunshine.

   Ha - I don't feel for you, I'm in Oregon and it was snowing this morning!

   If you use the default WordPress theme, do you get the same slow load times? If not, the problem might lie in your customized theme - maybe there was something about it that worked fine in 2.6.5 but crashes 2.7.1?

   If you still get the same slowness, the only thing I can think for you to do is delete all your files, then reupload a fresh copy of of WordPress 2.7.1. Of course, you should backup your wp-content directory and wp-config first.

   Thanks for the suggestions. I have actually attempted both of those items and neither have resolved the issue. Thinking it might be an issue with the database but since I'm rather limited in my knowledge of MySQL I'm having to do some reading.

   Ok. After digging some more I was able to find this comment deep in a thread and it resolved my issue by adding one line of code. Who would of thought? What a headache.

   Guys,
   I have created simple php file wp-admin/index.php with
   <?php for($i=1;$i<555;$i++) echo "$i ";?>
   And guess what?!?!

   The output take up to 10 seconds to display!!!

   this can tell 1 thing, Server / htaccess / mod-rewrite Problem....

   I put the file http://layan.us/wp-admin/?testSpeed=1

   I will try now to delete .htaccess.
