   Since upgrading to 2.6, I've got a blank (as in-- no name, just a blank line) category. It looks like its the "uncategorized" category that I'm familiar with from previous versions-- but it cannot be removed. My category list has a category listed with no check-box to select it, and with no name, no posts, etc.

   any idea how to make is go away?

   Its not very clear - or maybe I have forgotten.

   The default category can be changed in Settings->Writing

   Once it is changed and there are no associated posts, it should be possible to delete it.
