We have recently had a new website designed by a company that built it on a WordPress platform. They did so because we are not a technically oriented group and this would allow us to keep our site current without having to know a lot about coding.

So the foundation of this question is we have a website already built on a wordpress platform, and we’d like to embed a wordpress blog in this site. The blog would be accessible to the public for comments, and to a much larger group of contributers than we will have for our formal website.

    How would we accomplish this?

Thank you all for your assistance!

I’m not sure I understand what you currently have…if your current site is build on the WordPress platform, then you should already have a blog. If the designer stripped out all the “blogging” features, then just install a second copy of WP and link to it from your current site.

If your site is built using just pages, you could just create custom index.php and single.php theme files (or use the existing ones, if they’re fit for use). Then, in the admin, under Settings > Reading, set your posts page to wherever you want the blog to be listed. Then, any time you write a blog post, just make sure it’s a “post” and not a “page.”
