    Cheers,

    I've recently discovered that http://www.moderated.ru (83.222.23.247) is listed as "Top referrer" in my Statpress stats (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/statpress/).

    There is no "natural" way that they would be top referrer for serveral reasons. The two most obvious:

    1. My site is brand new with hardly any vists and no inlinks according to Google.
    2. My site is all about Internet Marketing which isn't very sexy.. ;)

    Another weird thing about all this is that there's no trace of http://www.moderated.ru in Google Analytics stats linked to the same site.

    Does someone else have the same "problem"? ..or have any idea why they would act as referrer usually with several visits/minute a couple of times a day?

    Installation info:
    * Wordpress 2.7.1
    * Akismet 2.2.3
    * Google XML Sitemaps 3.1.2
    * More fields 1.2.10
    * Statpress 1.3.2

    All plugins are updated to the current latest versions.

    Congrats! you just did exactly what they wanted. You gave them a link.

    referers can be spoofed. easily. and spammers do it all the time, in the hopes that yourstats page will be browsable, or that you'll display referers elsewhere, or god forbid, you'll go and repaste the link on a forum somewhere.

    Im modlook'ing this though so a mod can delete the fricken link.

    Ok, my bad for the backlink. Had no clue that was their only intention. Lesson learned..
