WordPress Default layout…

greetings everyone,

i’m using the wordpress default theme and have taken out the
<?php get_sidebar ?> for more space. I’m trying to move an image to the center of the page but when i do center it, the theme acts as if there are still widgets displayed when there is nothing. An example is shown at this link below:
