• just brainstorming here.. but what do you guys think of it?

you know the password protect feature so that you can password protect the postings?

well how about hacking the code a bit and put a pay pal link in there for them to pay to get the password…

    to get your posts content..

seems like a good idea? or ?

  • No offense, but it sounds pretty dumb to me. Who is going to care so much to read your blog that they would pay for it? There are millions of blogs out there to read for free.

Only if you have content worth paying for. Other than that, just use Google Adsense. I offer Jon Gales as evidence of its profit margin:

I’ve seen many WP sites that use a paypal link – frankly I find this hilarious, and personally dislike ads. A blog is what you make of it, but adding adverts to a site that’s meant to be you is pretty horrible idea in my opinion.

If you need money from others for your blog, should you even have a hosting service in the first place? I guess the result is reflected on how many people sign up or donate, but personally I see no reason to donate – better save that money and donate it somewhere worthwhile such as a charity….or the WP development… Each to their own.

    That’s essentially the Slashdot method.

    1. Create blog.
    2. Require PayPal transaction to get password for content.
    3. ???
    4. Profit!

As soon as you find the missing step come back and let us know :).

    There are several strategies.

Like this one employed by Jason Kottke with his blog-full of “micro-content”, entreating folks visiting his blog to become “micro-patrons” to enable him eke out a living from blogging alone!

And here is Darren Rowse with his six-figure (no sic) $income from blogging (multiple streams) out of his ProBlogger.Net

I think there is a chance for niche blogging to become an alternate news and review medium which may soon graduate into a genuine product-review resource.

    Yes, blogs have a future!
Keep blogging, suck visiters, make it an addiction and convert their bad habit into your $$$$!

I won’t even pay to read the articles on cnn, if they want me to. I doubt there would EVER be a blog I would pay to read. EVER.

A new blog is created every 7.4 seconds

    BugMeNot 🙂

If it makes me money, I may pay you money.

Does anyone know how I can add Google Ad Sense code to my WordPress blog? I’m not sure how to do it. Do you need to edit any of the .php files or can you do it some other way. I’m not very skilled at .php so I don’t want to screw anything up. Please let me know. Thanks.

use the search for Google Adsense and you shoudl get the relevant answer.
