I am new to WordPress and trying to set up my first PHP site, but I'll try to make this clear. I'm using Bluehost, Dreamweaver, FileZilla, PHPmyAdmin, and mySQL.

I have downloaded the newest version of WP and uploaded it to my database. I changed and resaved the config-sample file the way the tutorial shows. I can connect to the ftp through Dreamweaver but not FileZilla.

When I visit my url the default 'coming soon' page that I made in html is displayed, not the blog.

I'm really lost, any help would be VERY appreciated!
    Thanks!

If it helps diagnose the issue - when I visit the url I can sign in by adding /wp-admin after it.

I too have just set up my first WP site and get the same thing...
I purchased 2 sites (domains and sites), I've uploaded all the files and db's. The DNS info propagated.

The first site was simple - I just created a db in my hosting control panel (GoDaddy) and then uploaded a copy of the db. I changed the config.php info and it is now working just fine www.goinglonggolf.com

But, I did the same exact steps for the 2nd site and just gives me a blank page. (www.goodputting.com) The guy I bought this from set it was a little more difficult....because the home page (http://www.goodputting.com) is a static HTML page. The blog is run by WordPress (http://www.goodputting.com/blog). I set up a new temporary index file for the static home page, but when I go to http://www.goodputting.com/blog it is blank.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

See the responses to your duplicate post: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/255329?replies=3

fj_80, make sure that your WordPress URL and Blog URL matches the actual location of your website files. It also seems that you have a .htaccess rewrite because typing in anything at all after your domain returns a blank page but no error. http://www.goodputting.com/blog/asdf for example. If that is the case, enable viewing hidden files and try renaming your .htaccess file(s).
