Just a month ago, I added widgets to my sidebar and easily changed the order by simply dragging them up and down. Now the widgets in the dashboard are stationary and refuse to move. They only highlight when I click on them, I can’t get them to drag. And I’m stuck with new widgets at the bottom of the side-bar, even if that’s not where I want them. If I had to connect it to something, it would be when I upgraded to 2.7.1. How can I fix this?

I’ve seen a few other strings in the forum with this question, none of them resolved. Any ideas how to get around this?

I hadn’t, until you suggested it. But same deal. The aqua-green widget indicators just stay put. What else can I try?

    thanks

The standard troubleshoot calls for killing all the plugins and shift to the default theme to see if it works. If it is not a theme problem, restore the plugings one by one, testing as you go.

It is a “local” issue in that it is not wide spread so you need to just rule things out one by one.

So you’re saying that maybe one of the plug-ins I recently installed froze the widget capability? Okay I’ll check it. Thanks.

The other thing of course, since this is tied to the upgrade is to reload all the wp-admin, wp-includes files.

I ended up just removing the most recent widgets I’d added, and then the widget dashboard started working properly again. Then I slowly added the new ones, and remarkably, it all works fine now.

    Thanks for your attention!
