Hi,
Brand new to Wordpress.
Q: Without uploading the image to my uploads, can I hotlink to a large image by link. I don't need the image to show, just a live link. Seems simple, but the link I create is always "dead".
I have tried unsuccessfully multiple times using the visual editor and the code editor.
The correct path (that ends with .jpg) shows at the bottom of the browser, but the link doesn't work.
This is how the hotlink I want to use is formatted:
http://www.xxxxxxxx.com/xxxxxxxxxxxx/xxxxxx_large.jpg
What am I doing wrong? Seems simple.
Thanks for any help.
depends where u are hotlinking to - other people may not want you to hotlink and might disable it on their server.

I though of that, but the image I am linking to is on about 10 blogs this morning. They all use the same source file that I want to use.
Actual image i am trying to create a link to:
http://www.squidspot.com/Periodic_Table_of_Typefaces/Periodic_Table_of_Typefaces_large.jpg
Well if you have not done so already, try using the Add Media Image in Post Edit to specify the url and see if it adds the image to the post.

I can add the huge 3000x2000 image, but then I need to resize it down to fit onscreen. Once sized down, I would like to add a link to the original (or make the image clickable) so you can then view the original large image.
Seems simple, where is the problem?
Thanks hotkee.
