Replace Category Links with Images

I am trying to use custom images for the category links… but I don’t know how to call out the individual links in css. I am using the category link manager plugin to specify which categories show up, but I’m not sure what the code is to call out a specific category with in the css to style one differently from the other.

I’m sorry if this is basic stuff. I’m a noob.
