    Hi

Ok I have totally screwed up. I backed up my old wp-content and then reinstalled over the previous. Nothing was working and as the content, etc wasn’t really important – I only had a couple of pages that I was happy to redo – I decided to scrap the lot – deleted the subdomain and all the files. I then recreated the subdomain, and reuploaded WordPress, put the values in for the old database and kept getting an error message which I thought was that the user name for the data base was wrong. I checked and double checked and it was right. So finally I created a new data base, entered all into the wp-config file and tried to run wp-admin/install.php again.

It is still not working and I have run out of ideas. Can anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong (Is it because my blog name is already registered and now I’m trying to install again?
This is the error message I am getting:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /misc/37/000/178/621/3/user/web/weary.quietlion.com.au/wp-config.php on line 56

    Many thanks!

  • Take a clean wp-config-sample.php and put your database info in that and rename it to wp-config.php.

A clean copy of wp-config-sample.php can be had from the distribution available for download via the Download tab at the top of this screen.
