• Hi, I have somebody that helps me with the important upgrades, as I’m not that good with WP. He usually upgrades first on a test site, where he is running

    MySQL/Client-5.1.11/Server-5.0.45-Community-nt
    Apache/2.2.10 (Win32)
    PHP/5.2.6

The problem he has is with the wp_options table. It exports fine, but wont import in another DB.

Would anybody have any idea why this should be happening. We havent been able to upgrade to 2.7.1 yet, because of it.

  • You don’t have to export and import on an upgrade. You backup the installation and database of course, but upgrading is just upgrading

As Gangleri said you should not be messing with your database to update unless it is to back it up. All the import/export function is really used for is moving wordpres (or other blogging post from various softwares and websites ) post/pages/etc to another wordpress database.

If he is exporting and importing to get the db on the test site for upgrad and testing, then your import problem may be due to the size of the database. Take a look at the videos on my site…use the search or tags to find a vid on upgrading and also on importing the db using bigdump.

Hi, thank you both for your reply. As I have already mentioned, he updates on a test site first then imports the updated site over to my Host, which is where we have the problem. He does this so that if there are any problems, they are dealt with first on the test site. Its me being ultrasafe, so that we dont loose anything in the upgrade.

The funny thing is, this is the first time this problem has occured since I have been using WP. Some where in the upgrade it doesnt like the transfer.
