   In case anyone here is interested, I have created an RSS feed that announces new versions of WordPress. It's based on the WP Developer Blog feed, but filtered (using Yahoo Pipes) to only shows new releases of WP. Email or SMS notifications are also available.

   Background: You might be wonder what the point of this is since the WP Dashboard lets you know when a new version is available. I don't use WP as much as I used to (though I still think it's great software), but have several clients who I've set it up for. After the headache of cleaning up a hacked blog that wasn't upgraded in a timely manner, the need for a reliable notification of new versions that didn't require logging into WP itself was apparent. WordPress.org doesn't currently publish a feed specifically for new releases and I'm not interested in reading (or scanning through) the whole blog, so this seemed like the best solution. I hope it's useful to someone.

   On Wordpress.org I have signed up for the email notification a dozen times over the last 3 years, using different email addresses, etc. and I have NEVER GOTTEN A NOTIFICATION. With the zero day exploits, I want to stay on top of it but the email notification from WP doesn't seem to work. I guess I'll have to try yours. Damn it Wordpress, why doesn't your email work?
