   Hi all

   Let me start by saying that I am a complete newbie to local servers (although I used Wordpress.com for some time), hosted blogs etc so I am probably being extremely naive. I have spent literally four hours this morning trying to install Wordpress and log in, and it's very frustrating - there doesn't seem to be an answer either on here or the web in general!

   Yesterday I downloaded Wordpress.org, installed it, set it up, even downloaded a couple of themes and messed around with setting etc. What I failed to do was note how to get back to the administration panel.

   I tried running the wp-admin.php script because that seemed like the thing that I wasn't doing, but I can't make that work at all. (Apologies if that was my mistake but I'm really unsure of what I am doing.)

   My website is located at www.d-for-derivative.com. I used Filezilla to upload and I'm sure I followed the instructions to the letter. I uploaded them to a folder called /blog but I just get a series of 404 errors saying the page doesn't exist when I try to find any page or file in this folder. I re-uploaded the whole thing a second time with the same results.

   Please help, it's very frustrating for a newcomer to not have any idea what they are doing wrong!

   Okay, I'm really puzzled - I thought I was supposed to logging into my blog online, i.e. at d-for-derivative.com/blog, but I see that I can log in by going to http://localhost/mysite/wp-admin/ and everything is fine there, I can edit my blog etc. but I see I', only making local changes.

   Jeez, I'ms so stuck, please help!

   its not.

   you are paying for hosting, correct?

   Thanks for your help, whooami. Yes, definitely paying for hosting - if you go to http://www.d-for-derivative.com/ you can see the stuff that I've already got up there.

   Okay, so I know that my local version is working correctly as mentioned above. I can also see that all the necessary files have been uploaded to my domain, because I can see (by using Filezilla) that the folder called 'blog' which contains all the WP stuff is uploaded fine.

   So now how do I log in? Is it http://www.d-for-derivative.com/blog/wp-login.php, or http://www.d-for-derivative.com/blog/wp-admin/wp-login.php, or something else?
