• Hi, this might be a simple one to fix – I just don’t know where to look!
    If I click RSS (website up and running) I get a message to say that it could not connect to the server at “http://http:/www…etc!
    So it’s not hard to see the problem! It’s just that I can’t find where it’s picking up the extra bit of url from. The theme I am using is Pixeled but no responses from that quarter just yet, so I am hoping that the problem might be more generic. Any clues as to where to look please!!

  • url?

    I have a similar issue
    Here is my url http://www.zoobos.com

    I have upgraded to wordpress 2.7 and changed my theme almost simultaneously and since then, my Rss feed is not working.
    I am open to suggestions.
    Thanks

    What service is generating your feed? Let me guess … feedburner?

    I presume it is feedburner! I have done the same as eryckx – upgraded to 2.7.1
    Kmessinger – not sure what you mean!? Maybe I shouldn’t be using that term! It’s just when you try setting up for the rss, you get the message. If you want to see it firt hand.. auswildlife.com

    @batsbee, I just clicked on your RSS and it works for me. I was able to see your feeds.

    Wow! Thanks Eryckx, maybe it’s something to do with me being logged in. I should delete cookies etc and see if I can look at it as a standard user – must be adding the extra just for my benefit!
    I had a look at your site and yes, it is coming up with a couple of lines of error code (very different to what I see with mine at this end). I’m afraid I have no idea what it’s doing. We need someone more knowledgable!!! Thanks again, B

    @batsbee
    Nice website, I like the photos, I wouldn’t presume that your feeds are going through feedburner, you need to check, also feedburner now goes through google so they need to either be transferred or new feeds created, also, very important, always check feeds in a feed reader,
    like feed demon, for example, not in a browser, especially with a site like yours, in a web browser your photos do not show,(great pity) in feed demon, they do. Last point, I’m not sure how you placed the Google Ads on your page, but they seem to be causing the errors I’m seeing, If You copied and pasted the code I would check it, anyway, good, luck, I’ll take another look, just for the photos.
    All the best.
    Mike.

    in a web browser your photos do not show

    They show fine in IE7 but not in FF which normally shows just a summary.

    eryckx – your error almost always mean some file did not get copied correctly. Have you gone to the default theme and checked? I would think it is a problem with your new theme.

    @kmessinger

    I actually did and still same problem. I also tried to install the RSS fix plugin = no luck
    My last try would be to downgrade from wp2.7.1 back to wp2.5 to see what happens.
    Still trying to figure that one out.

    @batsbee
    No problem, your site looks fine in Internet Exlorer 8. Google Chrome and also opera, when I referred to “In web browser photos don’t show” I obviously mean the rss feeds, in Opera only a summary shows of the text, no photos, in feed demon, your feed looks very good, but also triggers multple google ad pages to open, for me anyway, I can only guess this is connected to the google ads you have and how they have been added to your page.
    good luck.
    mike.

    @eryckx
    Hi there, I doubt if you need to downgrade, have you tried uploading a fresh copy of the wp-includes directory, where most of the rss files live.
    hope you resolve it.
    mike.

    @mickey I will give it a try
    Thanks

    I reinstalled the wp-includes folder and still same problem.

    Hi eryckx
    Have you tried the default theme,sorry the wp-includes didn’t help.
    At the moment the rss link at the top of your feed doesn’t bring up a feed. good luck. mike.

    You are getting a different error now. Information is here,
    http://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.zoobos.com%2Ffeed%2F

    Actually, this is progress!

    Since you changed your theme and the problem began, check functions.php for extra white space (spaces between lines or at the beginning or end)
