Hi
I have a separate links page on my wordpress site.
I use all images on this page and use the [gallery] so
they show up in neat columns.
It works great except they don't link to the actual
link they're supposed to link to. If you click on it,
it will take you to a larger image.
Is there any way to make the image link to an external site?
I've tried adding the link when uploading the image but it
doesn't apply when using [gallery]
Any solutions? Perhaps I need to use something else?
Thanks

How about you just google for "html image link". This is simple html stuff.

Thanks Saurus. I'm well versed in HTML and linking images
The problem is when using the [gallery] tag it won't allow you to link the images to an external site. i'm sure there's some workaround for this but i just can't find the solution online and i can't find where i myself might change the code.
if anyone knows how to insert an external link to the [gallery] images please let me know. i'm still hung up on this.
Thanks

Good question tywerx, I'm currently tackling the same issue, I'll search and if I find anything I'll drop a note here! good luck yourself!

PhotoJAR: Base is a plugin for WordPress that allows you to change the link for all the images to the same external link. It has some handy features that all work by extending the short code for the [gallery].
Unfortunately, I suspect that you (as well as myself) needs to link every image to a separate external site from the gallery. I'm looking into ways to do it myself and I'll let you know if I figure something out. It would be appreciated if you posted any of your findings as well.
I don't think you're going to find a good solution for doing this. It's a bit outside of the scope of what the [gallery] shortcode was intended for. That's not to say it's impossible. There are probably other methods that would be a lot easier.
Here's an alternate solution using bookmarks to create an image gallery.
