Remove category assignment from page

    Pages cannot be associated with Categories. According to the Codex, but for some strange reason I created a page in WP only for it to be assoociated with a category, not only that it also has a comment form at the bottom.

    Now on my other site the about page refers to about.php, links.php etc and contains nothing but a blank page to write in which is what I want to achieve. How do I disassociate categories with a page and display it as a page and not like a post? I did post the thing as a page and not a post in case that is in question.

    Could I copy the about, links etc .php files to the new theme and will it automatically recognise them or will I have to create them from scratch?

    Did you ever get an answer on how to turn off categories on Pages? Or if you figured it out, would you mind posting a reply?

    You cannot “turn it off”. But in every decent theme in the Page template (page.php) there is no reference to category. It’s that simple.

    It’s not necessary. You could just have a file page.php in the theme folder and omit the template tag which displays its category; same thing with comments/comment form.
