It seems awful easy to upload the file sv_SE.mo to the catalog language, and edit wp-config.php
But WordPress do not change language... What more can I do?

Yes, I have the same. Nothing happens. No error but no Swedish language either. I have a custom theme but it doesn't work with the WP classic or WP default either. What I'm a doing wrong?
Nevermind. I forgot to rename the UTF-8 file to just sv_SE.mo
Are you using this translation?

Nevermind, I forgot to rename the mo file to sv_SE.mo. Now it works
but for some reason by web browser doesn't recognize UTF-8 and make i.e. the login screen look weird with no Swedish letters.
Lionheart, try to validate your login file and you'll see what the problem is.
Yes, it's saying that I use faulty characters because it contains swedish characters. Same with the flickr-gallery page gallery.php

I fixed it by adding AddDefaultCharset utf-8 to a .htaccess file in the root.
I've the same setup with the sv_SE.mo file from the URL macmanx wrote in an earlier reply. Admin interface is in swedish, but not the search function and the sidebar titles (Meta, Blogroll, etc). I'm using the default theme.
I run it on a IIS server so .htaccess is out of the question here.
Can someone assist me in this matter, please?

Jonas
