Support » Plugins » [Plugin: Postie] Why require “admin” user?

  • Hi. I want to use this magnificent plugin, but to configure it, it requires that the user *name* be “admin”. Why this silly requirement? Why not just check if the user currently logged in is an “administrator”?

WP itself suggests that after install it’s safer to delete the “admin” user and create a user with admin rights.

Please fix this. It’s a pretty moronic blotch on an otherwise very intelligent and useful plugin. Thanks.

  • It does work. I dont have an Admin user anymore and use my own account which is an Administrator, and is not named ‘Admin’. The only thing that does not work anymore since 1.1.2 is the additional Administrators that are specified via the Postie settings, which worked in 1.1.1. So I just created a second admin account for another device with that users email address.

The best it get more information on the exact page error or notifications that state this. Other than that it may just be a differing configuration on your side that may be working against you.

I have no problem changing settings when logged in as an account not
    named admin.

@garethooper – which settings are you referring to that no longer work?
