   just installed wp-db-backup and ran it last night. Little did I know it would reset all my files and directory's permissions to 777 leaving them open and vulnerable to all sorts of evil.

   Luckily my hosting service has something running on the server that will throw an error if the directories are set to 777. unluckily, I still have to go back in an change all the permissions back to 755 for the darn site to even work! grrrrrr.

   this looks scary. Can someone comment if this has been solved?

   hmmm..I have this useful plugin on several of my sites as well as client sites and it does not do this
