Manage Themes screen has description overload

    This is addition to the “The requested theme does not exist.” error, it seems to be related but although I have searched and tried a few of the suggestions for the above error, they haven’t worked. When I view all the themes in Manage Themes screen, the one I have selected to use and have also tweaked has the whole css file contained in the description like this:

    I’m aware that if I just re-upload the original file it will probably cure it but I’ve spend some considerable time making a few amendments, none of which should have caused this. There must be something simple amiss but I’ve checked the syntax. The code at the top of the style.css file is as follows which looks ok to me:

    It’s not preventing the theme from working but it’s a pain the butt as getting “The requested theme does not exist.” error means that I can’t use the WordPress editor and have to download and make amendments using my ftp client, I’ve tried amending the permissions but that didn’t make any difference. Any suggestions appreciated, thanks.

    Using 2.7.1

    I had the same problem, in my case the new editor I’d used (1st page) had removed the linebreaks

    opening the theme in notepad, it had squares (where there should of been line breaks) and wasn’t nicely laid out – reverting to an older version (that the editor in question hadn’t touched) solved it.

    I’m sure someone more technical than I could explain why… I’m guessing the word encoding or maybe UTF would come into it somewhere…

    Thanks for the reply (I’d forgotten to check back!).
    I think I understand what you mean – I was editing in notepad anyway and it looks identical in appearance when I edit either in notepad or in BBedit so I don’t think that’s the cause.

    Just below the code at the top of the css file that I posted above is the line:

    @charset "iso-8859-1";

    I wonder if that has anything to do with it?
    Any other ideas/suggestions to troubleshoot this appreciated.

    It’s improved a little since the upgrade to 2.8 … but only a little. Any ideas why the theme page won’t display the detail of the current theme I’m using? E.g. says Current Theme but with no detail after or below with by and then blank again then:
    All of this theme’s files are located in .
    So the theme page can’t detect the detail at all. Any ideas as it seems connected with the other problem. Thanks.
