How do I get phpMyAdmin to go away?
Did you install phpMyAdmin yourself or some such thing?
Yes, I installed it myself. My webhosting is through Yahoo and their troubleshooting directory doesn't include anything related to this. I'm rather new at using mySQL and phpMyAdmin.
Well, if you installed it yourself into your blog directory, then you likely just destroyed your blog. That's not what you're supposed to do, most hosting services have phpMyAdmin installed already, you don't have to install it yourself, and even if you do then you should install it into some other directory.
You'll likely have to recreate your blog from scratch. Make a backup/export of your existing database though, because that has all your data in it and you can restore the site contents with it later.
Ykes, thanks Otto for the help.
Couldn't I just go through the blog directory and delete any files related to phpMyAdmin?
Assuming your WordPress files are still there at all, then yes. Make sure that you restore the WordPress files that got overwritten, like index.php.
When I log into WordPress everything is there, my main concern is just losing my entries. So, my entries are still there yet when I access them the phpMyAdmin login pops up pretty quickly.
How would I restore the index.php file?
I'm having the same problem!
I upgraded to WP 2.7.1 yesterday and all seemed well, I've posted new content, no problem until just now. When I tried to access the site it takes me www.creative-i.info/wp-admin/install.php as if the site doesn't exist.
I then checked via Dreamweaver that the site is actually there and it is. I've tried it with two different browsers and on another computer, same thing, no matter that I enter the right URL, the browser always appends wp-admin/install.php to the address.
What's going on, this is a disaster!
Bill
PS: I did a 'clean' install, that is, I put the site into maintenance mode, deleted all the files via Dreamweaver (except my plugins/themes) then uploaded all the new 2.7.1 files. It worked just fine.
PPS: Just tried to upload a post via Marsedit and got this error msg:
Can’t do post for Creative-i because the server reported an error. XML-RPC Response Parsing Failed: Error XMLParsingErrorDomain 0.
Oops! I installed phpadmin myself yesterday. What do I do? all the new files are still there and I've deleted the phpadmin folder.
How would I restore the index.php file?
One way would be to click the Download link at the top of this page and extract a fresh copy of it and upload it to your site.
@ Creative-i
it sounds like your wp_options table has crashed in the database
run a repair on it
Hi Samboll.
Not sure how to do that as I can't get into the site. Maybe the hosting co could?
Also, vindictive visitors have tried to setup a new site by filling in the activate page that you arrive at. Will this have wiped out the DB? (I have backups of the site and the db)
Bill
you or your host through phpmyadmin will need to do that
have you tried one of the alternate methods to reset password?

Hi Samboll,
Okay, fixed! Your suggestion that the wp_options was buggered, was right on the money!
Many thanks
