Protecting wp-admin w/htaccess and htpasswd (3 posts)

So I'm trying to password protect this directory with .htaccess and htpasswd and with each attempt I get the same results: A browser request to http://mydomain.com/wp-admin results in a Wordpress-generated "Not Found" error. I think my syntax in the .htaccess file is correct but to make sure I even went thru the control panel that my hosting provider makes available to generate the .htaccess file for password protected directories

    Thanks for any suggestions!

Can anyone help with the password protected feature in the Fixed Blix template? You can add this feature, and it does create the page with the correct password field. BUT, upon entry of the p/w, the page refreshes and goes nowhere. You cannot get past that page.

The links work fine when you remove the p/w protected feature. BUT.... I really need that piece..

Any help? In plain and simple words for rookies, please?
