   I'm using WP 2.7 and version 1.13 of the DMSGuestbook plugin. I have tried both the graphical and numerical anti-spam feature and neither works well at all. I am deleting 12 or more spam e-mail addresses every day for a small poetry blog I created for my elderly father. While the spammers never seem to be able to post anything with their newly created accounts, they still force me to delete their username/password account info every day to keep the guestbook clean.

   Based on my experience, the math captcha in DMSGuestbook is too easy and the graphical version not much better. Also, I see no easy way to blacklist an entire domain. For example, most of the spam is coming from places like "*.ru", "*.gmail" and "*.ua".

   Would it be possible for the plug-in's author to create a timed auto-delete feature in the plug-in, so that any newly created account which does not have a post within a user specified time is automatically deleted from the DMSGuestbook?

   If this problem can be fixed, please tell me how.

   Hi Rizlaw

   The DMSGuestbook anti spam function help to clean the guestbook only against spam robots. This hasn't the same function like akismet or similar tools which filtering spam enries with a database.

   A lot of guestbook messages are short posts like "Hello, nice page", "Would just say hello!!" or so. Akismet would reject to save the message or store this in the spam folder.

   I will try to implement akismet in DMSGuestbook in a future version.

   I have now having problems seeing my guest entries to the DMS Guestbook and posting any new entries. I am getting an error that says the database is not available. I check my database and the previous entries are still there however I cannot add any new ones. The guestbook was working fine until I upgraded to Wordpress 2.7?????

   Hi jolenemacinjax

   DMSGuestbook is running with WP 2.7, there are non issues known.
   Did you change something others, like plugins, themes or so? Try to disable all plugins except DMSGuestbook and/or switch you current theme with an other one.

   If there isn't a way to solve this problem, you could write me a email including access to your wordpress admin account, sending to: DMSGuestbook (at) DanielSchurter (DOT) net

   I am on wordpress version 2.9 & when I test the guestbook the antispam does not recognize that what is input matches & comes up with the message: -

   Wrong letter-figure combination!

   Most times I try it appears to be all letters?

   Try to use reCAPTCHA. It's better than the built-in antispam solution.
