I am currently working on an import from a WordPress.com account to a new WordPress install on a hosted account. The size of the XML file is just over 6 megs. I was able to edit my php.ini file successfully to allow the larger file to be uploaded, however, I am still having issues with the import.

I am able to import the file in it’s entirety if I *do not* select to download and import attachments. However, when I *do* select to download and import attachments, the import will halt at various points. No errors and no “All done have fun!” message.

Each post has one or more attachments and there is a post for nearly each day, dating back to 2007. I would rather not have to manually download all attachments from the WordPress.com account, to then upload those attachments to the hosted blog.

Some of the attachments are larger files but some it’s very random on which files with download and import and which files will not.

Any ideas on a quick fix or work around?

    Thank you,
    Derek M.

Also I am noticing that during the import drafts of pages and or posted are not flagged as “already exists” if the import is ran a second time, and will duplicate.

    Not a popular subject apparently.

I did manage to get my entire export file to import into my hosted WordPress blog. It wasn’t easy!

I had to scramble the export file and creature separate files (10 to be exact). I had to run some files more than once but if finally got everything to move over.
