• Version 2.7 (not included in the drop down list!) Any idea what this error may indicate (it shows up in the php logs, but the blog works fine), since it is making my host a bit twitchy?

    Jan 20 04:57:27 [apache2] PHP Fatal error: require() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required 'ABSPATHwp-includes/compat.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/php5:/usr/share/php')

    I comes up frequently. The file is definitely present with permissions 644 and functionality seems un-impaired, but my host is concern it may indicate an attempted exploit.

  • Haven’t a clue why this happens or why this solution works, but I just deleted my entire wp-includes directory and re-uploaded it. Works fine now.
