   I like the idea of a plugin that does not force additional input from the commenter. However, when I try to comment after activating wp-captcha-free, the button changes tect to 'please wait....' and then nothing happens. It just seems to hang.

   Any ideas?

   This plugin doesn't work.
   Even on the authors blog it shows only link to it's page with text "Spam protection by WP Captcha-Free" without any picture.

   Plugin doesn't work on my blog either. After sending an error message is shown, saying that the data is insufficient.

   @Smart Maxx: The idea of this plugin is to provide spam protection *without* image (captcha).

   @soutra & @spida2: Try updating to the latest version.
