   I have MtDewVirus's Archive hack in place, and it works great for month data.
   Yesterday I put the category code back into my index.php, and started to put entries into different categories. I've done quite a few.
   When I click Archives, I see the correct screen, and January displays correctly, yet if I click a Category link, it self refers to the page current displayed.
   Any ideas what I've done wrong now ? :)

   It's working for me perfectly. I guess I don't understand what you are asking?

   did you modify the htaccess file?

   .htaccess - no.. once I got it working, I left it all alone :)
   If I click a category link in the menu, I go to the archive screen. Once there, if I click January, I see the posts archive. If though, I click 'Chatter', the page just refreshes...
   Maybe it is the htaccess then ...... I'll have a look.

   It looks like it's the .htaccess ReWriteRules because http://www.tamba2.org.uk/T2/arch.php?category_name=chatter works just fine.
