  • I installed WP last night and I’m having the same issues. I’ve compared my settings against two other peoples’ settings who don’t have to approve comments and they are the same. (version 1.2.2) Any ideas would be appreciated. 🙂

Read “Why is every comment going into the moderation que?” at: http://codex.wordpress.org/Combating_Comment_Spam#Q_.26_A

There’s a new checkbox in the Options>>Discussion panel:

“Comment author must have a previously approved comment”

It appears to be on by default.

Just an fyi – I had no blacklist, I have version 1.2.2 so I had no “comment author” line, and all my settings were 100% correct.

However, after installing and activating Spam Karma, now they aren’t being moderated. Go figure. It’s a work-around, but I’d still like to know why doing what I should’ve in the first place wasn’t working. Another person who installed 1.2.2 had the same problem until she installed Spam Karma and we are using totally different templates.
