   I had to recently restore a back-up of my MySQL database and after the restore the Top Commentators Widget is no longer working.

   For some reason it "forgot" the data and only reflects comments made after the database was restored.

   However WordPress recognizes all my comments (post-restore) with no problem. Any idea what's going on?

   Can you give me more specific details on this?
   - MySQL database version (for backup data)
   - MySQL database version (where data is restored, if different)
   - WordPress version you're currently using
   - WordPress version of the backup data
   - Widget version, before and after if different
   ... and anything else that might be useful?

   Sure.

   - MySQL database version (for backup data)
   5.0.67-community

   - MySQL database version (where data is restored, if different)
   5.0.41-community

   - WordPress version you're currently using
   2.7

   - WordPress version of the backup data
   2.7

   - Widget version, before and after if different
   Same, 1.1

   oh boy, I'm dumb. my database restore just happened to take place on jan 1, and I accidentally had it set on "display by year."

   Sorry!
