   Hi, I am working on http://www.ericastjohn.com/ with the snapshot theme

   Mostly, I saved the articles when I had WP 2.6 and for the image custom field I would add key image and value url

   I went back to edit a couple of posts and now in 2.7 when I update the posts the value is not saved in the custom field. Nothing has changed

   I have disabled all plugins and still same result. I tried saving the post first, then adding, even put it in draft mode and tried saving.

   All the same result. The value is missing from the custom field.

   Any idea why this would happen?

   I found the problem, it was the way the snapshot theme was built. sorry for this! fixed

   I was having the same problem with 2.7.1 and spent all day trying to figure out how to fix it, being that I don't like the idea of a workaround.

   Amazingly, it turns out that I was able to fix the problem of the custom fields not saving by entering the data into the custom field but NOT clicking "Add Custom Field".

   Everytime I would enter the custom field data, then click "add custom field" like everyone tells you to do... it would disappear when I went to save it, and instead be saved in a draft. Without clicking that button, ALL my custom fields are saved.... and i actually have to click LESS!

   I am having this problem right now but the solution listed above doesn't work.

   We're using 2.7.1, and have been successfully using custom fields with no problems. But today we suddenly could not save our custom fields.

   When we hit "Add new custom field", the background flickers yellow as usual, then when hitting "Save Draft", the content within the value box disappears. This happens on scheduled posts, too.

   I've tried using different browsers, deleted posts and recreated them, but nothing seems to work: the fields disappear the moment we save the post.

   We haven't added or reconfigured any new plugins. Any assistance would be appreciated! Thank you!

   I am also having this problem on a site i have made no changes to recently, .all was working fine, .2.7.1 ..now when i go to add a CF and save the post the CF's all vanish.

   The solution: ..save the post before adding the CF's ...then when you add a CF DON'T save the post, this seems to remove them, ..clicking 'add custom field' writes it to the db and it is saved, ..then you can simply navigate away from your post.

   I am also having this problem. Clicking save removes the last custom field. If I don't click update page it works...

   I have just updated to WP 2.8 and am STILL experiencing the issue detailed above.

   As simonbugler mentioned, it does seem to save if you do not click "update page."
   (just click "Add Custom Field" then move to a different page without clicking "update page.")

   However, this only works in an emergency/temporary state -- if you edit that page in the future, it will remove that last custom field again.

   This worked for me too, so as long as I never have to update text on page I'm good. Wish I'd checked here first,, chewed up a whole afternoon upgrading to 2.8, then restoring to 2.7, then upgrading to 2.8 again!

   Oddly I find myself hoping that this is a bug in 2.7/2.8 rather than in the theme I am using...!

   I am also having a problem with custom fields but slightly different. I began with 2.8.1 and just upgraded to 2.8.2 and the problem remains. What happens is when I click to "add new" I get no input box for the key. The dropdown for choosing a key disappears, but no input box appears. When I first installed wp it worked, and somewhere along the way it stopped. I have disabled plugins to no avail. Any suggestions?

    I am having the same problem with custom fields disappearing in the snapshots woothemes theme. I have tried the steps above and they do not seem to fix the problem

    functions.php has to be completely free of blank lines. See this post.
