• Hi there – I have not yet installed WordPress as I would like to clarify a few things first. Also, please note that I am a complete WP “idiot” – no experience whatsoever, so much of the “techie” language simply goes over the top of my head. However I am willing to learn…
I would like to create a blog as part of my website with the following requirements:
A static page (i.e. welcome, explanation, etc) I do not necessarily need posts to this page.
Three other pages (I’m gathering that these may have to be sub-domains?) (the rationale being that I will have three “types” of information which need to be kept separate but will have the same welcome page)
I am hosting on an independent server, which allows one database

    My basic questions are:
    Is this possible?
How would I go about setting this up
Finally (and yes, I know this probably a dumb question but bear with me please!) do I actually install everything on the host server and edit it from there, or do I have to to install locally and on the host server and edit locally and the upload to host??

Any help would be really appreciated. I have googled myself in circles, and now only seem more confused than ever (probably as a result of the fact that my IT-speak is limited at best. Many thanks1
    Jude

no problem – a simple admin setting

not sure exactly what you mean – wp can easily do 3 pages with differing info

yes – or you can do an install locally also to work offline but definitely not the easiest or necessary at all.

you can have as many installs in one db as you want

Many thanks for this, I’m not sure that I have explained my purpose for the three separate pages terribly well, so please forgive me! I would like one static welcome page (explaining what the blog is about) to which no posts will be added. I would then like three separate pages (can be clarified as a “blog within a blog”, i.e. these would have the actual posts, share the same static welcome page, and each have multiple authors. I have installed WordPress and am currently doing the setup so your input would be greatly appreciated.
