    Hello everyone,

    I need to enter my .com api key to this blog http://wcplumbing.biz/wordpress/index.php.

    I’m getting this error.

    Error from last API Key attempt:
    Your blog was unable to connect to WordPress.com. Please ask your host for help. (transport error – could not open socket: 13 Permission denied)

    I called my hosting which is aplus.net and they told me I need the following information so they can allow outbound connections.

    Please allow the outbound connections for scripts for FTP username: wcplumming
    Local script filename (and location) which needs the outbound connection:
    1.
    2.
    …
    Remote server IP address and port number:
    1.
    2.
    …
    Exact purpose of this connection:
    1.
    2.
    …
    Please note that our firewall is IP based. If the remote host changes its IP address in the future, please notify us of the change.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks Sandeep,

    The blog itslef is fine. I downloaded a bunch of plugins and activated them, but for them to work I need to enter API KEY. When I do that I get all these above.

    Basically I cannot use the plugins I downloaaded till I confirm the API KEY and I cnanot do that till my hosting company gets this info to allow outbound connections.

    I have no clue where to find this info!!??

    Hey…don’t know if this is too late, or if it helps…but I was able to resolve the issue by providing the following:

    -SCRIPT FILE NAME: Just the name of the file that runs the script. In your case that would be the .php file from the plugin that executes the data request. If not sure, just guess.

    -REMOTE SERVER IP ADDRESS AND PORT:
    The following should work, IP: 68.142.214.24, PORT: 80

    -EXACT PURPOSE OF THIS CONNECTION:
    Something like, “To connect to site x and retrieve blah”
