I just registered a dummy account on my site and after activating it through email authorization, it jumped me to the admin page of my site. It didn't allow access to much of the back-end (including any of the administrator capabilities) but it did allow registered users to link to some things like spammed comments in the queue.
How can I get it so that new registered users are linked directly to the homepage?
And how can I make sure that people can't access the 'wp-admin' at all?
Thanks,
Adam

I have the same concern...I seem to recall an option to have users jump to another page after login, but I can't find this setting anymore. Am I crazy?

Ya me too. Not acceptable by any means. I'm using 2.7 if that helps
You should check what role you have set for registered members, a basic subscriber admin page will only have access to their profile, click on users, to see what role they have.
mike.
Indeed only Contributor or above can see pending/spammed comments. Though it's questionable whether they should be able to see (non-approved) comments that don't relate to their own pieces.

It's true, the admin available to basic subscribers is limited - but the point is I don't want them to see it at all. It's visually incoherent and unnecessary - just bad UI. Any ideas how to turn it off?

Thanks. Since it's only tested with 2.0.5, I'll look at this updated hack as a plan b: http://www.kpdesign.net/wordpress/allowing-limiting-user-access-in-wordpress/
(See "Requirement 2"). Also recommended there: http://www.theblog.ca/wplogin-redirect

If you use the Custom User Notification Email you can set the Login Redirect URL.
