Hi all,
So having some issues trying to upgrade a much older version of wordpress. I deleted and changed out all the files except for the wp-content folder. I ran the upgrade.php file, and it took me to the upgrade page, but everything was styled like 2.1
I went through the upgrade process, was informed it was successful, but when it took me back to the blog, it was still in it's fully functioning 2.1.3 self, not the new version. Any ideas? I'm at a loss...
Well if a theme is coded correctly then it is likely that the only difference you would see from 2.1.3 to 2.6.3 would be in the administrative panels.

Exactly. Not worried about the external theme - it's the administration panels and the fact that it still says the version is 2.1.3
Well this blog http://chezcakeshuffle.com/ showed 2.6.3 a few minutes ago. The wp-includes/version.php has the version.

Sorry, I should have specified - that's a personal blog, I'm talking about an employer blog - http://chicagowl.com
Thanks for the help!
So the wp-admin, wp-content, and wp-includes, as well as the wp-config.php are in the blog folder, correct?
And even though upgrading from 2.1.3 to 2.6.3 should work, you might consider upgrading from 2.1.3 to 2.3.3, then to 2.6.5.

Do this:
- Make a backup of your mysql database in the manage/backup area of your WP dashboard. You do have a WP backup plugin, right?
- Make sure the two default WP themes are in your wp-content/themes folder (Classic and Default themes).
- Deactivate all plugins.
- Upgrade from 2.1 to 2.3.
- Backup your new database.
- Upgrade from 2.3 to 2.6.5. Be sure to fill out the secret key info in your wp-config.php file.
- Re-activate plugins.
- Backup mysql db again.
You're done. :)
