Unable to create directory /wp-content/uploads/2008/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

I have tried re-installing the template which is DeepBlue 1.1

I have also tried other templates with the same error.

Called my host and they checked the read-write-execute settings and all seem to be fine.

    Any ideas?

Definitely does seem like a permissions problem. Your host may have been checking incorrectly, I’d load up your FTP client and check them myself.

I have gone in there. What do you recommend I do in my files. should I go to wp-content and change permissions from there down? and what should the permission settings be for both directories and files?

    Thanks

This was an issue that the host company was able to resolve, but it originated with the way the folders were set up. I think it was as a result of a widget I uploaded yesterday to try. I forget the name of it right now, but it was to show photos as a slide show. I think it changed the folder settings. thank you all and I will try to find the name of the widget to post here as well.

get rid of the “order by month and day” thing in the uploading options.
Just create an “uploads” folder inside your “wp-content” folder and chmod it to 777 and all is well.
